24.08.12 CFMEP In Llandaff Cathedral Cemetary
Today 10 volunteers came out to have a look at the site of some future projects in the Cemetary in partnership with Cardiff Council's Bereavement Services who have just taken over the wild parts of this amazing cemetary. However, the main aim for today was to pull up a couple of patches of Himalayan balsam before it was too late. We were all pleased as the patches here reasonably small, compared to the acres over in Llanrumney and Bute Park and possibly do-able in this 2 hour work session. After a brief GPS-free navigation signal error (I couldn't quite remember where they were) we came across the largest patches. Everyone here knew what they were doing and quickly set to work. We found a place without any graves and piles up the balsam there. It was amazing the number of graves that we had freed from the shade of the balsam and their was an odd respectful feeling among the volunteers.

We cleared the main patches and were all quite excited about starting some projects in these lovely grounds.
