Helen Thomes

Dance teacher and Kansas City native Helen Thomes (1884-1958) maintained a dance studio at several different Kansas City locations from 1916-1942. At the left she poses for a studio portrait by Miss Reineke, who was a member of the Women’s Federation of the Photography Association of America. The photograph at the right shows Thomes dancing during a school at Lake Michigan held by Russian dancers Andreas Pavley and Serge Oukrainsky.
