Kim West - the Artist's vision for the wall

Newer Older

The Art District showcases some of Los Angeles' best graffiti masterpieces. This one, high up at the top of the warehouse wall, has the feel of a Banksy but it's hard to tell these days. I'll wait until I get expert confirmation but if it is, it will be my first find. His work is now sold for Millions of dollars at Auction. A great documentary on graffiti to see, is called, "Exit Through the Gift Shop" Amazing what these artists go through in the middle of the night to do their art and not get arrested. Located on the eastern side of Los Angeles it neighbors Little Tokyo, Financial District, Toy District and Wholesale District. A staple for any urban photographer graffiti walls are updated what seems like biannually.

The artist is Kim West, not Banksy.

I found this, he does have a bear www.kimwest.com/there-were-no-survivors.html
Could be his or a copycat? Looks like his bear although no paint dripping. Thanks for the help. I'd like to give credit to the proper artist.

in art school, during a modern art history class, (oxymoron) they used to try and make us identify artists by trying to recognize his or her style - by projecting images by the artists we may never have seen... it drove me insane and often the entire class would fail... I didn't see the point and since then my style has been no style! :) Ha I usually caught some great zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's though during that class!

Hey Cindi!- yeah, def. her work and polar bear is in the News/Blog section. My coworker talked to her right in front of the mural. Kim's planning to paint the entire wall and it looks like she's started very recently (I work across the way so I see it all the time!). She also has some wolves down the street next to Wurstkuche!

Thank you so much for that news. I think we're going back down again this weekend. I'll look for the wolves too. Have a great day!
