EXPLORED ON 12 APRIL 2009 - # 324

What is held beneath this bud, is a lotus. Even the bud is very beautiful, but the potential it holds inside is even more beautiful. Given the right time, and right environment, this will blossom into one of the most beautiful flowers.

It is the same in all of us humans. Each of us are beautiful individuals. But the potential we hold inside is even more wonderful. We just need to have the right motivation and patience to let it blossom.

I dedicate this photograph to my friend Ezhil Ramalingam, who has been inspiring me further into macro photography.

Though this is not a macro shot, as I shot it with an effective 800mm lens, stanging almost 20 feet from the subject, it still feels like one. Also I love the softness the extender brings to the image, as it compliments the delicateness of the the flower itself.

Photographed with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 IS USM L Lens and Canon EF 2X Extender. Handheld.
