Mongolian hot pot

From Typical Beijing Local Dishes and Pastries.

I love these old food pictures. As you can see, this is before hot pot became the craze over China and almost everything was put into the fondue pot. Here the most basic version: sliced lamb (I love the way it is cut, very professional!); slabs of tofu; Chinese cabbage, and spinach. There is a saucer with cloves of garlic, and somewhere outside the picture is going to be a bowl of sesame paste with some chopped cilantro and jiucai huar 韭菜花。I blogged once about how to make Mongolian hot pot
