Lately, I have been dragging my feet about processing fireworks images, feeling a little burned out and that I didn't come away with much on my last trip. Then yesterday, Adam Hansen posted an awesome fireworks shot that reminded me how fun fireworks can be and inspired me to go back to the vault and start processing. This is the only photo I actually got to yesterday but I'm glad that I got started.
This was taken on the first night of my May trip. I was alone that day and had spent the evening leisurely wandering the World Showcase. I did a little Flickr research (how did I ever survive before smartphones?). I remembered that Matt Pasant and Bob Desmond had photographed Illuminations here one evening so I pulled up a picture to find out where and how high the bursts would be. (Thanks Matt and Bob :) Here, I am set up right at the end of the wheelchair ramp, so I set up right before the show in order to not block the foot traffic. The area was pretty well cleared out by the time Illuminations started, making for a nice peaceful night of fireworks shooting.
