Metaire Cemetery Sphinx

    Newer Older

This photograph was taken at Metaire Cemetery in New Orleans in May 2005. The cemeteries in New Orleans are above ground due to the low water table there. It was taken with a Canon Digital Rebel 35mm camera using a lensbaby lens. The lensbaby is a special effect lens. I use it to give me a similar look to the toy cameras I used prior to going digital. I think of it as my digital Diana. More information about lensbaby lenses can be found at www.lensbaby.com

Kathy, I love the blur that you got on the right hand side of this one. I also really like the sky.

The lensbaby gives a "real yet still abstract" viewpoint. The right half of this image looks very abstract while the stone work on the left side presents a "real" viewpoint.

I like the perspective, the comp, and contrast is just right but IMHO the blur effect actually detracts too much.
