Maryland Getaway 2015
We've been on several "getaways" by purchasing vouchers hi-lighted on a weekly travelzoo.com newsletter. For this one we headed to Oxford Maryland. We've been to Oxford a bunch of years ago when we were Chesapeake Bay sailors but this was our chance to visit the area again only this time by car. We bought a 2-night voucher for the Sandaway B&B which gave us one full day to explore.

We arrived around noon, checked in, then went across the street to the Robert Morris Inn for lunch. The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent looking out over the water while sitting in a shady spot reading our eReaders. The weather was beautiful and we totally enjoyed watching kids learning to sail "Optimist Sailing Dinghy's" out on the Tred Avon River.

Our full day in the area was spent in St. Michaels. We took the "short cut" to St. Michaels by crossing the Tred Avon on the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry. Crossing takes about 10 minutes but saves a 12-14 mile drive. Weather for this day was in the low 90's, sunny, and HUMID! Most of the day was spent in the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Fortunately, some of what was available for view at the museum was located inside of air-conditioned buildings, we needed the occasional break from the heat. Mid afternoon dinner was at Town Dock Restaurant before heading back to Oxford.

For the final morning, we took our time eating our breakfast basket of goodies then packed up and headed for home. On the way, we made a short stop in Chesapeake City.
