Street portrait: Sam, the long-distance cyclist

I was walking along the Downtown Mall when I saw a mob-sized pack of cyclists, all wearing the same outfits, hanging out in front of the Paramount. I was curious about what they were up to, so I went up, introduced myself, and asked if they were part of some group. As it happens, they are participants in a cross-country charity bike ride, which began in Yorktown, VA, and will end in San Francisco. They are hoping to raise awareness of and money for Multiple Sclerosis research, and you can find out more about their project here. Sam was one of the more striking riders, between the green sunglasses, his sunburnt face, and his shock of pink hair, so I asked him if he would like to participate in my project. He agreed, and here you see the result. I salute them for their committment to helping others and wish them the best of luck on their long ride.
