    La Brunfelsia uniflora (manaca, o azucena) es muy importante en la vida de esta mariposa, ya que la continuidad de su especie depende de esta planta, porque sus hojas son el único alimento que comen sus orugas o larvas. Llega a 80mm de envergadura y tiene alas transparentes, lo que simplifica su fuga en pleno vuelo, ya que sus predadores tienen dificultades en verla. Puede volar grandes distancias y se agrupa a otras poblaciones de la misma especie. El macho permanece próximo a la planta de Brunfelsia, cuidando atentamente atento a las jóvenes hembras. El apareamiento de esta especie es brutal: durante el vuelo, el macho se agarra a la hembra hasta forzarla que caiga al suelo, momento en que se realiza la copulación. La mariposa pone sus huevos en la Brunfelsia. El desarrollo del huevo hasta el último cambio de la larva lleva menos de 30 días. La crisálida, amarilla con manchas negras, se encuentra bajo las hojas del árbol o en su cercanía.
