BT Artbox - Big Ben

The BT Artbox Story

The good old British phone box was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to commemorate King

George V's Silver Jubilee.

This year we’ve got a Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 to look forward to, so we decided we needed to do something to celebrate.

That something turned into BT ArtBox. It’s a campaign that thrives on the nation’s artistic talent.

Across London’s streets you’ll find replicas of the Gilbert Scott phone box, transformed by the

imaginations of some of our very best creative minds.

Then later on we’ll be auctioning all the boxes off to raise money for ChildLine’s 25th anniversary.

“Big Ben”

Artist: Mandii Pope

Location: Trafalgar Square

It's the first sight she shows to friends and family, timing walks along the Southbank to coincide with the iconic chimes. With 2012 being the year of the Olympics and the Queens Jubilee, this year will see more tourism than ever to our beautiful City. And so, what better way to celebrate, than to transform the beloved telephone box into another of London's icons?

With 2012 being the year of the Olympics and the Queens Diamond Jubilee, this year will see more tourism than ever to our beautiful City. So, in keeping with the 2012 British theme, Mandii is creating the Big Ben BT ArtBox with special thanks to SML & 3D-Eye for creating the Big Ben mould.
