02 Amir's Garden - Park Sign (E)
Griffith Park, Los Feliz
Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Landmark No. 942, 1/27/09
Griffith Park is one of North America's largest urban, municipally-owned parks. Originally gifted to the city by Col. Griffith J Griffith in 1896, supposedly because he was spooked by the ghost of Antonio Feliz, who is said to haunt his former property, known as Rancho Los Feliz.
After Col. Griffith died in 1919, the city began to build what he had envisioned. Today's attractions include miles of hiking trails, the Los Angeles Zoo, Gene Autry Museum, Griffith Park Observatory, Amir's Garden, the Hollywoood Sign, and many others.
The park is one of Los Angeles' greatest assets and natural resources.
