This picture is taken on the block of 100 South Kamehameha Highway in Wahiawa, Oahu, Hawaii. The cars facing would be heading towards the airplane bridge. This stretch of highway is between Avacado Street and Olive Avenue. On the right of the picture, where the one story pink building is and the gray building (next to Castner Store) is Olive Avenue. The pink building continues to be part pink and the corner is now "Maui Mike's." Hiway I think was a tavern. Where the gray building and Castner Store is now McDonalds. The brown two story building with the blue car passing is where Tanji's Photo Studio was. The gray building on the left beyond the OK Used Car sign still stands. I think the 2 feet or so stone wall also is there. Everything else in this picture has been demolished. The telephone poles have been removed. Also the airplane bridge is gone.

Bata Shoes were (and still are, I think) made in Czechoslovakia (no longer called that, I know.) They had retail stores internationally - even in Hawaii - by the 1930s.

Castner's was both a retail store (I think) and a car repair / dealership. I remember Castner Ford in the 1960s. Many of their customers were military, from Schofield Barracks.
