Deadman's Island

Deadman's Island can be seen in the foreground. The name of the island is believed to have originated from the Sḵwxwú7mesh (Squamish) who used the island as a tree burial ground using cedar caskets in the branches of trees. The island is also a site of a battle where more than 200 warriors were killed. The island is now the site of the H.M.C.S. Discovery naval reserves. See Wikipedia
