The "Potty" Room
Another go at the RAW processing. I'm a little happier with these images. There is definitely a learning curve.
This is the intimate view of the "potty" room. After every meal the children have an opportunity to use their little potties. Mostly it's a bunch of silliness - partially sparked by the two white women who were peeking in. At one point I had 4 kids on potties scooting their way towards me, and as I backed away, they scooted out the door after me.... I don't think the house nannies were happy with me :).
The New Life Home is an orphanage for children with HIV/AIDs who've been abandoned. Every Saturday they open their doors for volunteers and I was really fortunate to get to see what goes on in such an amazing and loving place. As we played with the infants out on the grass, helped feed the babies dinner, cleaned dishes, and helped supervise the "potty room", my friend told me how that after a few years living in this extremely wonderful and loving place, children lose the virus completely. All of these kids end up with adoptive parents. Compared to many of the orphanages I've been in during my life, this was by far the cleanest and happy place, and the kids were ADORABLE and so happy!
