Bishop, California is well-known for its annual bloom of wild irises. Pasturelands throughout the town as well as in nearby Round Valley, come alive with the blue beauties around Mother's Day each year.
I found this one last week in relative obscurity on a small plot of land near one of my favorite iris hunting locations. The light softened and the wind stopped just long enough for me to capture this beautiful bloom in all its splendor.
Please come follow my latest endeavor, the Wildflower Conservancy. You'll find lots of helpful information as well as reports from recent wildflower sightings. Thank you!
