The Christens' 1894 Hops barn
On our vineyard hopping route we came across a beautiful property where I screamed: Goats! and everything stopped. I jumped out to take photos as the owners came out to check us out. We talked across the fence for a few minutes before they graciously invited us to a tour of their property. Carol, who we found out is a ninth generation descendant of founding father John Adams, is a retired civil engineer turned artist/farmer. She showed us her sculptures, paintings, collages and wind-chimes, introduced us to the animals, talked about the art of butchery (she butchers the animals, not John), her battle w/cancer and eventual win, her obsession with Picasso and Feng Shui. John taught us the ways of the old barn and their renovations and farmlife. I could have stayed and listen to them all day.
