The Auchendinny Experience
Once you reach the end of the Auchendinny Tunnel, you'll find yourself facing a metal bridge over the River North Esk. Scotland has too many River Esk's. The one true Esk will always be the River North Esk at Montrose though.
Beyond the bridge lies the site of the old Auchendinny Station. The platform here as well as traces of a goods yard remain but I never went beyond the bridge so I never saw them. I will be back for a proper look at this line in the near future. I bet it'd be a wonderful Autumnal walk.
If you want to read up about Auchendinny Station, the goods yard and old paper mill then here's an interesting link. It's full of old photos, new photos and old maps of the area. Well worth a browse if you're interested in this stuff.
