Council 4502 Simcoe - HDR/Tone-Mapped
This is another shot from the food mall/strip located in the Norfolk Fall Fair held in Simcoe, Ontario. I t was getting dark and the harsh, garish lighting was taking over, giving strong colour casts and very unflattering, but typical, distorted colour ranges. This shows one of the local service groups' members operating a burger and fries stand. There is no shortage of food or photographically interesting, if not challenging, opportunities - JW
This image was processed in HDR software but since it was a single image, only the tone-mapping portion of the software came into play. Hence the image is tone-mapped and not strictly HDR.
The original image was shot using a hand-held Nikon D5000 fitted with a Nikkor 18-105mm VR lense set to 70mm, ISO800, Aperture priority mode, f/6.3, 1/13 sec. (really need VR here) .HDR processing (to use the tone-mapped portion on the single image) was done using Luminance/Qtpfsgui with settings as shown below. PP in GIMP: tone curve adjust to deepen colours and get a more 'realistic' tonal range, slight contrast increase, dodging the faces slightly to bring out better detail in them, decrease strong yellow cast from the coloured lighting (somewhat), slight contrast increase, sharpened, added border and scaled to 1024 wide for posting.
Qtpfsgui 1.9.3 tonemapping parameters:
Contrast Mapping factor: 0.3
Saturation Factor: 1.2
Detail Factor: 1
