Vietnam Veterans Memorial

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, designed by Maya Lin, is a black wall embedded in the ground, listing the names of all 58,000 American servicemen and women who died in the war. The wall itself forms an angle - with one end pointing towards the nearby Lincoln Memorial, and the other pointing towards the Washington Monument. It is a popular (and solemn) memorial throughout the year, but particularly so on Memorial Day weekend, when thousands of veterans arrive (many on motorcycles) to pay tribute to their fallen brothers.
