A gracious host

We return to The City Gray that Ne'er Shall Die for another image in The Long Farewell series. I am in the process of building gallery pages for "The University of Chicogwarts" and "The Long Farewell," so for those of you eager to skip all my belabored remembrance, you will soon have your chance. For those who want to skim through the images right now at faster pace than the blog format allows, click the link on this block of text to go to my Flickr set of 50 UChicago images - cool huh?
Today's image is one of my favorite photographs and locales from campus as well as one of the last I captured. Ida Noyes Hall is a continual photographic subject of mine and regular readers have seen many images of this grand place. Home to The Pub (a beloved bar/grill in the basement which has great beer and a trademark dank, scholarly feel), numerous student festivals (anyone ever eat/drink way too much at "Ribs and Bibs"?) and formal events alike, this grand building is always a gracious host. This is the regal and golden view that greets a visitor coming through the main entrance. My wedding reception was through the doors straight ahead on the left and The Pub is just through the corridor on the right, around the back of those grand steps. For me, the ceiling in this place is what catches my photographic eye - so unique and beautifully adorned.
