Five Stars

... the "Five Star Red Flag" ( 五星紅旗, Wǔxīng Hóngqí )

The flag of the People's Republic of China in TianAnMen Square.

There are five stars on the flag, they are said to represent the Chinese people and their unity while the red represents the Chinese Communist Revolution.

Traditionally, the number 'five' on various previous Chinese flags in history has been used to represent the major ethnic groups in China: Han Chinese, Hui (ie. Muslim), Manchus, Mongols and Tibetans.

Some say that the larger star symbolizes the Communist Party, while the four smaller stars symbolize the four social classes.
