Tesla Motors Assembly Line

with the stereoscopic hum and whir of an alien dreadnaught

That's actually Elon's description of the former NUMMI plant, now modernized and bright... from the factory tour today.

Wow - it's like an anti-Victorian sweatshop - no Jacquard looms (although there may be one out back making the seat covers!), not a single malnourished ragamuffin with industrial injuries.

Ramones Karaoke The sweatshops are for all the Asian slave components that go into it.

You must mean the iPhone calendar syncing to the nav system? =)

    Ramones Karaoke - oddly descriptive

P.S. More autobot photos, and a sense of the before and after

The Robots looks like KUKAs but the color dont match.I see also litle STÄUBLIs
  • Steve Jurvetson 3y

I saw many German Kuka's (for precision placement).

jgury - another good reason for being the most vertically integrated... =)

Did I see the SUV concept is really gull wing? Wow!
  • Steve Jurvetson 3y

Falcon-wing. It has two hinges so it lifts up and out of the way, unlike a gull-wing which flaps into the neighboring vehicles in a parking lot. I took photos and video of it on Sunday.

The robots wear the same color. Japanese workers wear uniforms in their factories, for ex., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., which does similar things.

Steve, did you know NUMMI translates to roughly "cute" from Estonian - or "kawaii" in Japanese...
  • Steve Jurvetson 3y

Did not know that. It looks cute now. Aitah!

I had a friend who worked full time as a fashion designer for an industrial robot clothing manufacturer. I didn't even know industrial robots wore clothing. Apparently it keeps out dirt and grease in harsh environments.

Hello Steve, I'm helping my brother with a web that I'm programming for his startup wannabe, and I want to use a modified version of this photo there. Which would be the best way to attribute you the copyrights or mention you? do you prefer a link to this page or something else? excuse me but I'm a newbie in using cc licenses.

    Thanks
  • Steve Jurvetson 3y

yup - All of my photos are free to use forever with a simple photo credit:
