Mt. Tallac

A good climb from lake-level… I’ll post a perspective shot of the hike below.

It’s hard to capture the sweeping vistas in all directions, and I recounted the story of my Zeppelin-buddy Rosendahl who had the foresight to bring a kite camera to the peak for a view from above

We started at the left side of the lake and climbed to the 9,775 ft. peak on the right:

Wow...gorgeous views! The kite-cam shot really puts this shot into perspective as well.

It looks like you had perfect weather, too... 'til I read the previous caption about getting hail on the way down.

    Thanks for the link!

Wow, amazing views Steve - looks like you're having a great time. :)

    It's a beautiful place.

rosendahl: Yeah, I rationalized that if I had brought a kite cam, then it would have been a Ben Franklin moment... Oh, that's it. Next time, I'll bring the Oracle rocket video cam!

With a 9V battery to ignite by hand, it might even be lighter...

We should really have very convenient, portable, automatic QuickTime VR gear, to easily produce images like the ones you can find on www.panoramas.dk/

For example www.panoramas.dk/US/grand-canyon-grandeur.html viewed at full screen is gorgeous.

They have a good tutorial on www.panoramas.dk/panorama/index.html but what I want is a very compact autonomous unit that I can just put anywhere, and in a minute it takes all the photos it needs, rotating by itself..
