Not dark threads but insects. Unraveling poly rope has become a hatchery!

Took this picture thinking that this was a two-tone rope. Fascinating, just hanging there from a tree in my neighborhood. By now, you know I love the unusual!

Fortunately I took it Macro. Because when I downloaded and viewed it on my computer I was delighted to see it was far more! Not dark threads but dark insects that had found a creative use for that rope strand... apparently laying eggs on it which were now hatching out.

I was so delighted that I went back again today to see them and the lady who owns the house came to ask what I was taking a picture of. And breathless and excited I told her the whole story.

But she gave it an entirely different meaning. They were having an infestation of "flies" near their front door... probably completely unrelated. As I was leaving, I could see her getting out the insecticide! And I was sorry I had shared my treasured find with her.

And those insects were no doubt doing something wonderful for her... and all of us!
