Wagner Home: Palatine Bridge, NY

this drawing of the Wagner Home was done in 1878. The carriage house, which can be seen at the right, is now owned separately and serves as a two family home. A candy maker once operated a candy making business in the carriage house building and so it has since been called "The Candy Factory".


The Honorable Webster Wagner built this house in located on East Grand Street in Palatine Bridge in1876. Wagner is credited with inventing the railroad sleeping car, the elevated roof car, and the drawing room coach and parlor car. From these inventions he garnered a considerable amount of wealth.


He was elected to the State Assembly in 1871 and the State Senate in 1872. He served until 1879.
