Mother and Four Mouths
When I first arrived to check on the nest, mother robin was sitting on the nest much like she had in my previous shot. Soon I spotted father robin on a branch nearby with a worm in his mouth and I watched him fly from branch to branch, pausing for a moment at each stop to look for predators, careful he didn't lead one to his babies. After he was certain there was no danger he landed on the nest and mother robin moved aside to reveal four babies who reached their open beaks upward to receive Dad's worm.
I watched for a while as mom and dad worked hard to supply enough food. Sometimes both parents would leave in search for food and other times only the father would go and mother would stay on nest to keep it warm.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! : )
