Levää, algae

A friend mentioned that this is one of the common green algae species. The formations shown are quite striking in my opinion.

This picture was taken in a former sand quarry in Vessö near Porvoo at a depth of about 12-13 meters. The bottom is soft and it is covered with a thin layer of organic sediment. Usually, the water is very clear, but now there was a lot of suspended silt and the visibility was very low in places.

This algae covers some parts of the quarry.
