classic Lavender fields in Provence

Provencal lavender - the best in the world. Native to Mediterranean mountain zones, lavender grows best in stony but sunny habitats. The shrub can also be found wild throughout S Europe, reaching height of up to 60 cm/25 in.

Along with it’s lovely color and heavenly fragrance, lavender is often used as a natural remedy for such things as insomnia, anxiety, depression, and mood disturbances. Experience and recent studies show the herb’s effectiveness in providing calming, soothing, and anticonvulsive effects to users.

Aromatherapists use lavender for treating nervous disorders and exhaustion. Herbalists use lavender oil to treat skin ailments -including fungal infections, burns, wounds, eczema, and even acne. Lavender oil can be applied externally for circulatory disorders by adding the oil to a healing bath, or it is also used as a rub to treat rheumatic ailments.
