WInter vanishing point - walking the Iona Island jetty, near YVR

On this December day, there were 32 people walking the 4 km (2.5 mile) gravel trail that juts out into the sea. Seals often frolic at the end, it's a great walk to banish the dark days of December.

Adjacent to the Vancouver airport, Iona was formerly an island, but is now a peninsula physically connected to Sea Island via a causeway. Iona is home to a sewage treatment plant, an animal refuge and a park - Iona Beach Regional Park - whose beach is close to wildlife from the nearby animal refuge, and a great place to birdwatch !
