Exploring a national park for the first time is a great thrill. I had a conference in San Diego and I did my usual weekend extension to work in a little time for photography. Despite a very rushed schedule and 110F days, it was really amazing. I wanted to start off with a daylight image before I show some nighttime views. A monsoon thunderstorm rolled past in the afternoon and provided a few clouds in a sky that is typically pure blue.
These Joshua Trees (a species of yucca) are really cool. They provide nearly the only hints of green in a dry August landscape of rock and brown.
