GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba – A Navy guard assigned to Joint Task Force Guantanamo’s Navy Expeditionary Guard Battalion patrols Camp Delta’s recreation yard during the early morning of July 7, 2010. Camp Delta is a communal living facility and the detainees housed at Camp Delta are able to use the recreation yard for up to 20 hours a day. The Sailors of the NEGB provide a portion of the guard force inside Joint Task Force Guantanamo’s detention facilities. JTF Guantanamo provides safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released by a court. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of Military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations.
