The one constant with the printed materials we saw concerning the Salton Sea was the unbridled optimism of the sportfisherman's paradise & recreational waterboating enthusiast's wonderland that was sure to be returning any day now. In stark contrast to the lake itself, 25 miles wide, 40 miles long & completely & utterly devoid of people. No swimmers, boaters, fishers, waterskiiers, jetskiiers, etc. No one in their right mind would go in the water.
