Starry Night

The shot was a bit of an experiment for me... at 19 seconds, you can see the stars moving if you view it full size. Every one is a straight line instead of a dot! I do wonder if a better tripod might produce a slightly more stable image, but I think the best thing would be a camera body with a sensor better suited to high ISOs.


I wanted to see what I would get at F1.8, so used my 50mm lens. Too much ghosting on some of the larger stars, in my opinion. Or lens flare. Or whatever you call it. If you look at the larger stars around the perimeter, they have a cone of light distending away from the middle of the photograph.


Still, I was able to get a bit of the dusty trail that is our Milky Way, and I'm pretty happy about that.
