A moss covered tree almost glows in the midday sun as seen along the Taft Point trail in Yosemite National Park.
This is a single Raw image processed in Photoshop. The 14.4 stops of dynamic range made the image possible without blending or hdr (the sky was very bright while the trunk was almost black in the original. Initially I used the "Fill light" slider in Adobe Camera Raw to increase the brightness of the trunk. This method produces an artifact band at the light-dark transitions (a known problem with "Fill light"). An alternative method is to use "Curves" in PS. I just had to make sure that the image output from Adobe Camera Raw was set to 16 bit so all of the dynamic range was retained in PS. Then an aggressive curves adjustment of the dark tones did the trick.
