For one of our location shoots during the workshop we went to an old abandoned power plant- very cool place! Here is Donald at the plant. Lighting was a 24 inch softbox and sb-800 on camera right with a CTO gel. A sb-800 was place on the floor above shooting down through the floor grate to produce the lighting on the floor. The camera white balance was set to tungsten to give the un -gelled light a blue color.

I like shadows and the way James' shirt almost has a black-light affect. Super shot.

Yes, Donald was modeling for Joe's roadtrip in Albuquerque the day before this shot was taken. He also modeled for me during an earlier workshop with Alan Thornton...

Very nice. I got to see Donald at the FlashBus Tour with Joe McNally in ABQ last week. Great fun.

That is another fine portrait of Donald! You did some really great shots with him - so varied in mood and tone - all beautiful.

Good stuff here, James. Just starting to get into some strobing myself, and this looks pretty cool! The only thing I'm not crazy about is the extra white light hitting his hair and beard.

He is a LEGEND in terms of subject matter. It tickles me pink because I have followed your work for a couple of years now and greatly admire it. I also take every opportunity I can get to see Joe when he's in Portland. Seeing you guys use the same "muse" is confirmation I've chosen some great mentors!
