Lava Flow Sunset - hdr

It was a brilliant sunset over the Hell's Half Acre lava flow in Southeast Idaho. Admittedly, I pushed Photomatix a bit to see what it could do with this ;-). Click inside to see how the central ground glow was created.

    I'm totally lost with "flipped the top layer vertically and aligned the horizons". Can somebody tell me more details of the steps?
