A young woman and her infant stop to pray at the shrine. The large box in front of the bu-den is called osaisen-bako, an offering box.

Sengen Shrine is a complex of three shrines in Aoi-ku, Shizuoka. The Otoshimioya, Kambe, and Sengen shrines are located around the sacred Mount Shizuhata. Together they are classified as Kokuhei Shosha, a 3rd rank national shrine. While the establishment date of Otoshimioya and Kambe Shrine is unknown, it is believed that they date back to the Kofun period (250-538). Records indicate that Sengen Shingu was established in 901.
