Sengaku-ji: Hondo

This is the hondo, or main hall, of Sengaku-ji in Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Sengaku-ji is not only important as part of the Chushingura story, but it was one of the three main temples of Edo during the reign of the Tokugawa shoguns. It was originally built by Ieyasu in 1612 and rebuilt after being destroyed by fires.
