METRO Cable Cars to la Aurora
Part of Medellín's transformation was adding cable cars to the poorer hillside barrios for connecting them to the city and opportunities. And riding these urban cable cars for the views is definitely one of the highlights for visitors.

Of the two current options, J-line to the Aurora station was by far the better and more enjoyable experience for the ride and views from the top.

What these pictures don't convey are the sounds of children laughing, music, smells from outdoor cooking, and other factions of daily life that permeate the cable car...making the passenger feel like they're right in the thick of things rather than soaring high above.

The cable car passes through 3 stations; each with the possibility for indoor views without needing to exit the station, but - I highly recommend exiting at the last station for the large outdoor viewing deck, where these overlook photos were taken.

This upper area is just now being developed and considered very safe. There's armed guards on patrol of the area. I returned several times, including a night with a tripod to shoot photos, and never felt unsafe or at risk!

Logistics: Take the B-line from San Antonio station to the last stop of San Javier. Riding in the front car puts you closest for making the connection.

The reported one-hour queue waits were never found, day or night, making for immediate, quick connections.
