I rode a lot "back in the day" but not seriously or frequently for about 9 years. Now I am back on the bike. Every ride is a kind of humiliation where my body shows me all the things I used to be able to do. I used to ride this bike all the time with a 120mm stem. Then my neck made me change it to 110. Now my elbow says I need a 90mm. I won't get a 90 degree stem though. My seat needs to drop 0.5cm I think to shut up my left hip. I spend a certain amount time on every ride trying not to throw up. But I still remember some climbing tricks, am trying to get my feet to move in circles, and I nod to the other guys out there who have gray in their beards. All of them are faster than I am. Hell, the old ladies on 1970's three-speeds are faster than me. I'm comin' for 'em though.
