I rarely use colour film - I love BW so much (and it doesn't highlight the fact that I need a better scanner quite so much too) - but what's really intriguing is that even when the film is scanned and I'm working in a digital domain, tweaking contrast curves produces all sorts of interesting and unexpected nuances. For absolute sharpness and breathtaking WOW! factor seen in a gallery, top quality digital takes a lot of beating - I think a 5x4 plate camera is required to match that these days with film - but film has other qualities - and manually focusing an old camera certainly grabs peoples attention on the street
