Needles in a Haystack
James Bradford McGinley, Cooper the Wonder Dog and I joined Susan Sanburg Humphrey in a weekend photo extravaganza. Our goal was to shoot wild flowers, but we got so much more than that, as Susan lives in the most beautiful part of our state (IMHO).
This shot is a perfect example. Molas Lake Park provides the perfect framing for the Needle Range backdrop lit up by a 60% moon. We hoped to get the Milky Way arch above the mountains, but this time of years it’s too high in the sky, though we will be back in the future for that shot.
This shot also highlights the debut of my latest gadget a Sky Tracker which I hope elevates my night landscape game to the next level. With the moon so bright, it’s hard to tell how much better things will get, but first impressions are very positive.
