The Stone of Dr. Graves

He lived a long and lustrous life,

A scientist of the stars,

Embraced the beauty of the night,

And kissed the globes afar.

But one eve murdered by his wife,

For years of past neglect,

His mistress – stars and moon and night,

Her rage, a dire effect.

For this affair, with orb and air,

Which led to his demise,

The stars assembled and prepared,

A tribute from the skies.

And so he lies in dark, below,

Within this wooden cave,

But once a year the moon will show,

The stone of Dr. Graves.
