    post: me

Hosting a travel show. At a roadside Chinese opera house. Convinced them it would be funny if I dressed up in the outfit. Grabbed my camera and yelled at the director to take a shot of me. Had him take it through a dirty mirror which is where the glare comes from.

DMU: I obviously didn't take this pic. But it is my camera on full manual with all settings dialed in by me. I told the cameraman where to stand and how to frame. Then I did all the post. So I figure it's maybe 50% mine? Anyway, fire away.

Extremely good. I love the hand reaching towards the camera, and the blown out reflections off the mirror somehow balance with the sharpness of the painted face.

The light, it burns my eyes.

The flare coming from the makeup artists head is just too much.

i dig the flare. it's a bit saturated on the left. great photo.

as for whether or not it's yours... the tripod argument is convincing enough. i'd give you 85%

Congrats. What post did you do, out of interest?

In Lightroom: Exposure, Contrast, Saturation, Vibrance, Brightness, Clarity, Blacks adjustments. And specifically upped the exposure of the flare so that it burned out and became an important part of the image. Sharpened my face and his hand. Brightened my eye. Did noise reduction on the rest of the image. Then cross processed it in Photoshop with Alien Skin Exposure. Put an unsharp mask on his hand to bring out the wrinkles. Put a slight vignette on it. Then color balanced it to bring out the greens.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, Mr K-R. Always appreciate your helpfulness.

My take on the authorship debate, if you're interested, is that it's more your photo than it is the dude who pressed the button's.

If you'd used a tripod and a self-timer, people wouldn't be saying it wasn't your pic. Why? Because you used your fingers to set everything. In this case you simply used your voice instead of your fingers to set everything, albeit through your assistant. Same same, different.
