This view gives one the idea of why Sighnaghi was an ideal location to build a walled city- located high on a plateau with a fertile valley below and the imposing Greater Caucasus Range to the East, the city offered a very defensible location. The spectacular views are an added bonus. Note that the elevation of this photo is at or above above the clouds in the valley, indicating just how high up the city is.
