Derwent Water first light (HDR).

    Newer Older

I had a little trip away this weekend to the Lake district in Cumbria with Jo .( Check out her stream ! )
We got there late Friday night so it was dark and we didn`t know what we would see when the sun came up.
Had hoped for a nice sun rise but it didn`t really happen ,Was quite grey and cloudy, But it was still a beautiful sight to wake to . i took this shot somewhere around 4am. it was very calm and peaceful :)

I took quite a few shots here , wanted to try some different methods on it as i said in the earlier upload , this is a hdr version , made from 3 auto bracketed raws . -1 ,0,+1. merged in photomatix then edited in cs3.
slightly sharpened , colour balance adjusted to bring out the faint pinks that were in the sky before it turned grey :( . contrast also boosted slightly .

Please view large On Black, (sam I am), and 1 other people added this photo to their favorites.

These look like different images Jon.

Out of the 2 I prefer the non hdr image. If anything it might need a bit more contrast, but besides that I thinks its great.

The red pill suggested slight contrast boost on none hdr version , in this version i boosted contrast and used a layer mask on the sky

i like both versions.... compositionally its great except perhaps would benefit frmo slightly more water between the end of hte jetty and the start of the land, needs more of a seperation .

I love both versions, but the colors in this one are fantastic! Definitely my favorite.
