Much bigger here!

That day we took the stormy photos up in the mountains (2 former posts) started nice, with partly cloudy skies and a wonderful very soft and warm light. Barrier Lake gave us some nice views. This one was taken at the area where the lake ends, and the Kananaskis river continues its way in the valley.

Barrier Lake, a man made reservoir at the north end of Kananaskis Country, was created by putting a dam on the Kananaskis river for hydroelectric power generation. Highway 40 runs on its eastern shore. The lake is also used for recreational activities, with hiking paths, cross-country skiing trails, a visitor centre, two day-use areas, a back country campground, and boating on the lake itself. Well worth the visit at any season.
