When we left Vermilion Lakes just after the sun rose above the horizon, we drove back into Banff and up on the Tunnel Mountain Drive, to a viewpoint overlooking the Bow Valley, the Hoodoos and Mount Rundle.

To the lower left you can see the Hoodoos that adorn the landscape. Those are columns of rock formations that have been created through the natural process of erosion by water and wind. Beside them you can see the Bow River and Bow Valley. The upper part of the photo shows the north face of Mount Rundle.

The sun was still very low and the mountains were bathing in gold. Temperature was climbing up, so by the time we arrived at the view point we were defrosted and happy again. Suffice to say, many clicks have been heard *s*.
