2 Flatirons from the Chautauqua
The title is odd unless you know a bit about Boulder, Colorado. The Flatirons frame the skyline of Boulder. They're the vanguard of the Front Range - the beginning of the Rocky Mountains. These huge slabs of Sandstone were upended 50 million years ago or so. The Chautauqua Park at their base is now an arts institution. These two slabs are known as Flatirons 1 and 2. Why did CU students decide they had the privilege of painting their name up there in 30 foot letters? (You can still see the erased letters on Flatiron 2.) Tough question.
